The Mission 
The platform supports real-time and batch risk calculations for derivatives pricing, XVA, PFE, Value at Risk, and more. It is a core component of our clients global Financial Markets infrastructure, serving dealing rooms and risk managers across Asia, Europe, and the Americas.

DARE (Data, Analysis and Reporting Environment) is focused on delivering a unified, cloud-native analytics platform on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), designed to provide fast, secure, and reliable insights for Front Office and Risk Management.

As a Looker Expert, you will be the go-to person for building and optimizing Looker dashboards, LookML models, and data visualizations that support critical risk and pricing decisions. You will work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality, real-time insights across ING's Financial Markets.

Your day to day
Even if you start your day in the comfort of your home or drink your morning coffee at our office cafeteria, your day will be quite similar when it comes to tasks. Here are your daily responsibilities:

Design, develop, and maintain Looker dashboards, explores, and LookML models for risk and pricing analytics.

Translate complex business requirements into scalable and performant BI solutions.

Optimize Looker performance by refining LookML models, reducing query complexity, and leveraging aggregate awareness and persistent derived tables (PDTs).

Implement cost-saving strategies in Looker and BigQuery by minimizing unnecessary data scans, optimizing scheduling, and promoting efficient data usage.

Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data pipelines are optimized for Looker consumption.

Implement data governance, access control, and data lineage within Looker.

Drive adoption of Looker across business units through training, documentation, and support.

Contribute to the architecture and best practicesfor BI and reporting within the DARE platform.

Ensure high standards of data quality, security, and performance in all reporting solutions.

Work in an Agile environment with international teams across Amsterdam, Bucharest, Warsaw. 

What you'll bring to the team
Knowledge and Experience:
Must-Have
5+ years of experience in BI development, with at least 2 years of hands-on Looker/LookML experience.
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases and cloud data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery).
Familiarity with the GCP stack (BigQuery, CloudRun, GCS, Dataflow, PubSub, etc).
Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data visualization best practices.
Experience with CI/CD, Git, and documentation tools.
Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have
Experience with, dbt, Terraform.
Knowledge of financial risk metrics and derivatives pricing.
Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and automated testing frameworks.
Foreign languages: English (advanced) 
Education: A University degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
